1. The new distributor doesn´t know what to do.
You´ve gone over the new associate training with your new distributor and you think all is going well. You´ve answered all their questions and introduced them to their upline just to hear them say they are not sure what to do next.
2. They are not investing in personal development.
Network marketing is well known for being a business of personal development with a product or service attached to it. New associates set themselves up for failure if they don’t make time for personal development. We can only grow as much as we are personally developed.
3. They are not sold on the product or service they are offering.
Sometimes people join a business for the wrong reasons. If they are not willing to use the products or services themselves they are less likely to have success promoting them to others.
4. They have not committed 100%.
To be successful in network marketing you have to be 100% committed. When someone leaves their options open they are less likely to take action. The motivation is lacking and the less they do, the less they will continue to do.
5. They have an unsupportive family.
The team member may have all the best intentions in the world, but if they don´t have a supportive family, they will often find excuses to why they can´t do anything. When the unsupportive family members see that the associate hasn´t made an income that will give them more reason to encourage them to quit. This is always a challenging situation.
6. They spend time hanging around the team members who don´t take action.
There is something known as a social club in network marketing. It´s where unsuccessful people hang out to talk about why they aren´t seeing positive results in their business. The negativity breeds more negativity and nothing ever changes.
7. They are getting ready to get ready.
There is always one in every team. They need to know and do everything before they feel comfortable taking action. They are often the ones who love information and will compile and organize tons of it before they are ready to contact their first person.
8. They have a lack of confidence or a self limiting belief system.
Most people start out in life with big dreams and over time they give up believing they will ever come true. Self limiting beliefs about themselves or money often cause people to stay stuck. I also see people who have self-sabotaging habits that keep from enjoying the life they truly desire.
9. They get burned out.
So many people have unrealistic expectations that often set themselves up for failure. Network marketing is often referred to as marathon, not a sprint. People get in, burn through all their warm market contacts doing business the wrong way and get out before they even get started.
10. They aren´t willing to invest in a business.
Network marketing is a legitimate business. Any legitimate business takes time and money to make a profit. If someone is not willing to spend the small amount of monthly expense to grow their business, they should get out now. Nothing will change until they do.
Your goal as a leader is to motivate and inspire others to do what you do. You want to model the behavior, the culture and the actions you want to see in your business. Lead from the front. Be the first one to sign up for convention and trainings and then take action. That will motivate you and your team more than anything else.
